Partnerships
City Year partners contribute their time, talent and resources to ensure public schools are places all students can thrive.
City Year San Antonio has partnered with San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) for over 25 years. The success of this partnership is because of our shared values and is only possible because of the relationships forged by City Year staff and corps and SAISD leadership, principals, teachers, and faculty. Our partnership allows our AmeriCorps members to serve as student success coaches using our Whole School, Whole Child program. This programming targets the academic, attendance, and behavior/social-emotional needs of students. Last year, 88% of students who received social-emotional support from City Year AmeriCorps members improved in their social-emotional competencies. City Year is so grateful to Superintendent, Dr. Jaime Aquino, who moved to San Antonio for this role in the spring of 2022. We are certain that SAISD is in great hands and know that together we can achieve great things!
Below is a brief clip from the Principal Summit we hosted in partnership with SAISD in July 2022. Watch the video below to hear Dr. Aquino speak about his vision for this upcoming school year.
