One year just isn’t enough. By returning for another year of service, you’ll build on the skills and relationships you’ve built in your first year to help ensure that our students continue to benefit from City Year.

In-school opportunities

Help students and AmeriCorps members thrive in and out of the classroom:

Second-year corps member

Continue to see your students grow and build on the skills you developed as a first-year corps member by directly supporting students in the classroom and being a guide to your teammates as they embark on their first City Year.

Team leader

Support and coach a team of first-year AmeriCorps members while working closely with your school administrator and partner teachers to help ensure the success of students.

 

Service leader

Lead and support a team of first-year AmeriCorps members while continuing your work with students in the classroom (opportunities available in Baton Rouge, Buffalo, Dallas, Denver, Jacksonville, New Orleans, New Hampshire and Tulsa.)

Return as a School Day Learning Coach or Afterschool Enrichment Coach
Continue to see your students grow and build on the skills you developed as a first-year corps member while having more time back in your schedule by serving in either a 1200-hour or 900-hour role. Learn More.

Teaching fellowship

I wanted to have the opportunity in guiding others to have a meaningful year of service while challenging myself as a leader. My passion to giving back and serving students is what brought me back to serve another year and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s about becoming an integral part of the community. We know that it is challenging to live on the stipend and we’re committed to ensuring that service is financially feasible for everyone. With our locations increasing our living stipends, serving with City Year is more possible than ever!

The stipend for second year AmeriCorps members serving in the 2024–2025 school year:

All of our locations will have a $935 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax), with the following exceptions:

  • Providence: $982 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Detroit: $1,263 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Philadelphia: $1,208 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Memphis: $1,050 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Jacksonville: $1,288 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Chicago: $1,163 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Baton Rouge, Cleveland, Columbus, Kansas City, New Orleans, Miami, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Tulsa and Washington, D.C $1,179 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • Boston: $1,275 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
  • New York: $1,237 bi-weekly stipend (pre-tax)
