Elevating Our Communities Takes a Commitment to Basic Needs and Workforce Development
The invaluable nonprofit organizations that provide a safety net for individuals and families are central to the success of these efforts. To this end, we’re proud to announce the Bank of America Charitable Foundation has named City Year Miami a recipient of its 2017 Workforce Development and Basic Needs grant. City Year Miami will use the funds to facilitate the Whole School Whole Child model in all our partner schools.

2016-2017 City Year Miami Theme: Ripples
"Each time a person stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
Heroes in Red
I was beyond grateful to be given the opportunity to spend a day with these 12 City Year members. They are truly a tight-knit group on a mission to making the world a better place, one student at a time. So, if you ever find yourself at a school and spot the signature red bomber jacket, you will know that it is being worn by someone who is selfless, trusted, a good role model and who believes in a greater cause than themselves. Now, look up “hero” in the dictionary.
