Rhode Island may be small, but it's full of culture, diversity, and opportunity. From coastal charm to city energy, the state offers rich history, top universities, and a vibrant arts scene. City Year Rhode Island proudly partners with schools to create spaces where students are seen, valued, and empowered to shape a brighter future.
Rhode Island's core cities—Providence, Pawtucket, Woonsocket, and Central Falls—face the state's greatest educational disparities. As a City Year AmeriCorps member, you'll serve in these vibrant communities, supporting diverse schools. Guided by an Impact Manager, you'll help students reach their potential while growing your own leadership skills.
City Year introduced me to the world of education. I had never seriously considered teaching before City Year. City Year gave me the hands-on experience to realize that a school setting is an ideal environment for me to utilize my skills and strengths to serve others.

Your corps experience
City Year is a key partner to Rhode Island public schools, including Providence and Central Falls—two of the state’s highest-need districts—working to expand learning opportunities for all students and help develop Rhode Island’s future leaders. Our AmeriCorps members serve as Student Success Coaches, supporting teachers and staff with academic interventions, positive school climate initiatives, and attendance coaching that helps students build consistent habits, strengthen connections to school, and stay on track to thrive.
Rhode Island’s close-knit community makes it an ideal place to serve and build lasting connections. By engaging students, families, and community partners, City Year helps schools strengthen culture and climate, boost attendance through coaching, foster academic and social-emotional or interpersonal growth, and cultivate the diverse leaders and workforce of the future.
