Last week at Turner Elementary School, ServeDC on behalf of Muriel Bowser, announced $5.4 Million in AmeriCorps Funding to 13 Youth-Serving Nonprofit Organizations!
City Year is Serve DC’s largest grantee of the AmeriCorps Competitive Grant and one of the largest AmeriCorps affiliated groups in the District with 160 members that deliver tutoring and mentorship to nearly 2,000 students across 18 schools in the District.
This investment from our partners at ServeDC allows us to recommit another year of service to the students and community of DC.

Last night we gathered for City Year DC's Gala in the Garden at @nationals stadium for a night of celebration! Friends, sponsors, staff, and AmeriCorps Members came together to plant seeds of educational equity. In a night filled with dancing, food, ballpark tours and so much more, it was also a night of learning and celebration. We honored long time CYDC partner Principal Strickland @CharlesHartMS for her continued commitment to educational equity and got to hear our panelists from @truist, @abbvie, @thedecisionproject, and @AmeriCorps on the social determinants of health that promote educational equity. We hope you enjoyed the evening and thank you to all that attended and gave to keep CYDC growing.
