National Louis University offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff
10-20% scholarships
NLU will award a 20% City Year Scholarship to all accepted City Year applicants for the following online and in-person programs:
Undergraduate*
Graduate
- Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.)
- Master of Science (M.S.) in Counseling (Online, in-person)
NLU will award a 10% City Year Scholarship to all accepted City Year Chicago applicants for many other NLU undergraduate and graduate programs^ as well!
*For transfer undergraduate students only (i.e. those individuals who’ve already taken some college credit)
^For transfer undergraduate and graduate students only. Cannot be used toward NLU’s AccelerateU, Nursing, MBA, or endorsement programs.
Scholarships awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years. Applicants must meet NLU and its program’s admissions criteria. Applicants may also be considered for other NLU discounts (including for Alumni, Community Heroes, or Direct to Success for recent Associates degree graduates) as applicable. However, please note that discounts cannot be combined with one another or with either City Year-specific Scholarship discounts noted above. NLU will honor the single highest applicable discount.

- Enrollment deferral: Admitted students may defer enrollment by one year if they decide to stay with City Year for additional time before starting their studies.

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship
To get the application fee waived and be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “National Louis University” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your AmeriCorps graduation month and year. This letter will be sent electronically by City Year to you and you will upload it to NLU’s Partner Discount Form and select ‘City Year National’ from the dropdown.
