Clark University’s Department of Sustainability and Social Justice offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff
50% scholarships
All admitted City Year applicants will receive a 50% tuition scholarship to one of the department’s graduate programs.
Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.
Eligible programs
- Master of Arts in Community Development and Planning
- Master of Arts in International Development
- Master of Science in Environmental Science and Policy
- Master of Science in Geographic Information Science
- Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems

Enrollment Deferral: Admitted students may defer enrollment by one year if they decide to stay with City Year for additional time before starting their studies.

Clark University’s Department of Sustainability and Social Justice prepares students to become agents of change in an increasingly interconnected world. The Department of Sustainability and Social Justice is a community of scholars and practitioners dedicated to environmental sustainability, social justice, and economic well-being. It teaches students how to identify and mobilize major forces of change, such as grassroots initiatives, social movements, government policy, market approaches, entrepreneurship, technological innovation, individual action, and education.

To identify your City Year affiliation
To identify your City Year affiliation, please request a service verification letter by emailing the City Year Alumni and Career Services Department at alumni@cityyear.org with “Clark University Department of Sustainability and Social Justice: City Year verification letter request” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and dates of service. This letter will be sent back to you, and it should be uploaded to your application.
To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship
- On the additional information page of the application, please answer “yes” to “Do you have an affiliation with a recognized
partnership?” - Once you answer yes, an additional drop-down will appear. Please select City Year.
- As a result of the above two steps, your application fee will be automatically waived and you will be considered for the associated scholarship.
