City Year is proud to partner with New York University's Silver School of Social Work, a leading graduate school focused on the education of professional social workers, offering a minimum $21,000 tuition scholarship.

New York University’s Silver School of Social Work offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

$21,000 scholarships

The City Year National Service Scholars program awards all admitted City Year applicants a guaranteed total minimum of $21,000 ($10,500 per year) towards tuition for the Two-Year and 16-Month Accelerated Master of Social Work programs. The Silver School may offer a higher scholarship (up to $15,000 per year) depending on the strength of the application.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

The scholarships described above represent the minimum awards; applicants will be considered for additional merit-based aid depending on the strength of their application.

  • Enrollment deferral: NYU- Silver School of Social Work will allow deferrals up to one year if accepted applicants decide to serve additional time with City Year.

To identify your City Year affiliation

Indicate your affiliation with City Year on the Master of Social Work application by answering the national and community service organization question in the financial aid section: “I participate in or am an alum of a national and community service organization (City Year, Peace Corps, Teach for America, etc).”

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship

To get the application fee waiver code and be considered for the scholarship, a service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “NYU Silver School” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your AmeriCorps graduation month and year. City Year will email your service verification letter directly to the school and will copy you on that email. NYU- Silver School of Social Work will then apply the application fee waiver and upload the letter to your application.
