City Year’s COVID-19 Vaccine Policy: Update

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required for service in all locations except the following: Denver, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Seattle, Orlando and New Hampshire. AmeriCorps members serving in all other locations are required to be fully vaccinated by your start date. If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons or sincerely held religious beliefs, or another legal basis, we will consider requests for reasonable accommodation consistent with our policy. Accommodation requests will be reviewed to ensure they do not cause undue hardship or pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others. City Year will make every effort to accommodate or grant valid exemption requests for individuals where possible. Notwithstanding any language herein, City Year will comply with any state, local or federal orders, statutes or regulations that may conflict with the COVID-19 vaccination policy.

In alignment with the organization’s impact-first approach and prioritizing the health and safety of its community, the goals of the policy are to:

  • provide a safe environment for staff and AmeriCorps members to work and serve
  • protect students who are unable to receive the vaccine
  • protect families, particularly for staff and corps in homes with young children

Vaccination is a key element in City Year’s multi-layered prevention strategy which includes masks, physical distancing, rigorous contact tracing, and isolation and quarantine.
