City Year’s COVID-19 Vaccine Policy: Update
After careful consideration, City Year announced to its community of AmeriCorps members and staff that it will adopt a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy to safeguard the health of our AmeriCorps members and employees and their families; students and school partners; and the community at large. All City Year employees and AmeriCorps members are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 19, 2021.
In alignment with the organization’s impact-first approach and prioritizing the health and safety of its community, the goals of the policy are to:
- provide a safe environment for staff and AmeriCorps members to work and serve
- protect students who are unable to receive the vaccine
- protect families, particularly for staff and corps in homes with young children
Vaccination is a key element in City Year’s multi-layered prevention strategy which includes masks, physical distancing, rigorous contact tracing, and isolation and quarantine.
