Simmons University School of Nursing

City Year is proud to partner with Simmons University's School of Nursing and two other programs within the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences at Simmons, offering five 25% tuition scholarships.

Simmons University’s School of Nursing offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

25% scholarships

The City Year National Service Scholars program at Simmons University awards five 25% tuition scholarships for one School of Nursing program and two other programs within the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences:

  • Direct entry Master of Science in nursing: a 25% tuition scholarship will be awarded annually to two newly accepted students to the direct entry Master of Science in nursing program for the first three academic semesters (not summer) of full-time enrollment.
  • Doctor of Physical Therapy: a 25% tuition scholarship will be awarded annually to two newly accepted students to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program for the duration of the program (academic semesters not summer).
  • Master of Science in nutrition: a 25% tuition scholarship will be awarded each year to one newly accepted student to the Master of science in nutrition program (no other nutrition program option or combination of nutrition programs) for the first two academic semesters (not summer) of full-time enrollment.

Awards are canceled if a student withdraws, takes a leave of absence or is academically dismissed from the program.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

Additional benefits

  • Application fee waivers will only be guaranteed for applicants to the Master of Science in nutrition. Application fee waivers are provided for the Direct Entry Nursing program unless the School of Nursing converts to NURCAS, a vendor that does not grant application fee waivers on behalf of colleges. Application fee waivers cannot be offered for the Doctor of Physical Therapy since the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences subscribes to PTCAS, a vendor that does not grant application fee waivers on behalf of colleges. Students should contact these vendors directly about the application fee waiver process, if they have availability.
  • Enrollment deferral: accepted students may defer their enrollment for one academic year, but the scholarship does not automatically carry forward to the future term of enrollment. Students will be re-considered. The new award amount may be different than the original award depending upon the competitiveness of the new applicant pool.
