Northeastern University School of Law

City Year is proud to partner with Northeastern University’s School of Law, offering 25% annual tuition scholarships towards the Juris Doctor program for City Year applicants.

Northeastern University’s School of Law offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

25% scholarships

The scholarship award will be equal to a minimum of 25% of tuition for two eligible City Year applicants per year towards the Juris Doctor program. The scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years provided recipients maintain continuous registration and remain in good academic standing, according to Northeastern’s standards.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

The scholarships described above represent the minimum awards; applicants will be considered for additional merit-based aid depending on their academic strength.

Additional benefits

  • There is no fee to apply.
  • Enrollment deferral: Northeastern will allow deferrals for up to one year if accepted applicants decide to serve additional time with City Year.

Why City Year loves Northeastern University’s School of Law

Central to Northeastern University’s School of Law curriculum is the Cooperative Legal Education Program. Combining classroom theory and rigorous academics with training in the field, Northeastern students receive their Juris Doctor degrees in the same three-year period as students at other schools but graduate with nearly a year of full-time legal experience.

The School of Law also cultivates a culture of cooperation, inclusion and mutual respect. Its diverse and talented students, graduates and faculty understand what lawyers do, how they should do it and the difference they can make in the lives of others. Consistently recognized as one of the best public interest programs in the nation, its deep commitment to social justice extends through its curriculum, co-op program, clinics, institutes and student groups. Whatever their areas of legal interest, Northeastern students graduate with a thorough grounding in theory, practical knowledge gained through real-world experiences and résumés that stand out from the crowd.
