CYSJ/SV names Salesforce executive to Board of Directors

San José, CA (May 10, 2019) — City Year San José/Silicon Valley, the local chapter of a national nonprofit organization dedicated to combating the dropout rate and realizing educational equity for students at underserved schools, welcomed Manjula Talreja to the site’s Board of Directors. Talreja serves as the Senior Vice President of Customer Success at Salesforce, the global leader in CRM. In her current role, she helps drive digital transformation for Salesforce’s customers across multiple industries leveraging the company’s cloud platform. The gala will bring together more than 400 Bay Area business and community leaders to hear stories of impact from some of City Year San José/Silicon Valley’s AmeriCorps members, who serve full-time in schools as tutors, mentors and role models, preparing students with the skills and mindsets to succeed in school and in life. The event will also celebrate the champions and supporters who make this work possible–including Metta and Keith Krach, who are the first couple to be receive City Year San José/Silicon Valley’s Citizen Leadership Award for their inspirational commitment to the community.

An IT industry veteran and a successful go-to-market leader, Talreja is a proven business strategist and operational executive with a track record of transforming businesses into major lines of revenue. Before joining Salesforce, Manjula had a 22-year tenure at Cisco. She served as Vice President of Cisco Consulting Services, the company’s business and IT technology consulting arm, until October 2015. Additionally, Talreja ran the Global Service Provider group where she helped customers accelerate successful business outcomes by readying their operations for digital transitions. From 2009 to 2013, Talreja played a pivotal role in launching VCE (a partnership between Cisco, EMC and VMware) and Cisco Intercloud, both new business models and partnerships in the growing cloud business. Talreja was named “The Top 25 Most Influential Women in Cloud” 2015, CableFax “Top Minority Women in Cable” 2014 and 2015, “Most Powerful Women in Cable” 2012 and 2014, and CloudNOW “Top Ten Women in Cloud” 2013.
