Service to a Cause Greater than Self Campaign
We're centering ourselves around the importance of service and how support is necessary for everyone!
We at City Year believe that service is a personal decision to dedicate one’s time, energy, and effort to a cause greater than oneself and to change the lives of others. It’s also a way to bring together diverse individuals who share a common goal while empowering them to work together. It’s through the power of service that we, as a nation, have been able to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles and ultimately aim to build a better future for us all. That’s why at City Year we make a collective effort to always demonstrate the power of service as a way to make transformational change for everyone – from the students we serve, to the communities we’re in, to our nation as a whole.
This quarter we are taking time to reflect and focus on one of City Year’s values – Service to a Cause Greater than Self. Each of us has a personal motivation or reason to commit to and serve others. By centering on our motivation and reason for serving, called “Why I Serve” statements, we hope to keep others at the center of our work and inspire others to serve their community. City Year San Jose/ Silicon Valley hopes that you join us in recognizing the value of Service to a Cause Greater than Self.
City Year continues to support students and school partners transition by offering academic and social emotional learning support. City Year San Jose/ Silicon Valley’s mission is to partner with and invest in local communities to close the educational opportunity gap through national service.
