Your service year will be challenging. Outlined below are the ways that City Year will prepare and support you in your work this year and beyond.
The power of teamwork and collaboration
We value dialogue and creating environments where our differences are supported and celebrated. Your experience will be most rewarding when you have a growth mindset to learn about yourself, your students, partners and the world around us.
At City Year Buffalo, you will have support from your Impact Manager who helps to manage and collaborate with our school partners, conduct 1:1 check ins with you and will observe and coach you through your service with your students. They will also lead training sessions on a variety of topics to help you in your service experience. Service Leaders are AmeriCorps members in their second year of service who are peer mentors to you in your service and work with students.
Career services and networking opportunities
We work with community partners and higher education institutions in Buffalo to provide AmeriCorps members sessions to grow their career interests and opportunities.
Corporate partnerships

Observations, coaching, feedback, formal performance conversations
You’ll be observed and coached by your Impact Manager, Impact Director and where applicable Service Leaders. They will happen at least two to three times in a month and allow for collaboration and goal setting. Another piece that will happen is 1:1 check-ins with Impact Managers that allow you to share about your service experience, set goals and talk about career interests.
