Welcome new board leadership

City Year Orlando is pleased to announce our new Board Chair, Craig Schneider and Vice-Chair, John Pisan. Their combined eight years of experience and service as board members will be valuable assets in helping City Year Orlando deepen and expand our impact for Orlando students and AmeriCorps members. We look forward to the vision Craig and John will bring to the City Year Orlando board and can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Craig Schneider joined the City Year Orlando board two years ago with The Starbucks Coffee Company, where he is the Regional Director of Operations overseeing more than 85 company stores. During his time as a board member, Craig has been committed to investing in the City Year AmeriCorps members serving on The Starbucks Coffee Company team at Evans High School. His passion for serving others and giving back has been instrumental in strong partnership between The Starbucks Coffee Company and City Year Orlando. The Starbucks Coffee Company has supported many City Year Orlando led school-wide initiatives as well as personal development opportunities for students and AmeriCorps members at Evans High School. We are excited to have Craig leading as board chair and look forward to a very bright future.

John Pisan joined the City Year Orlando board as a founding member with Wells Fargo Bank, where he is the Regional Senior Vice President/Regional Managing Director-Wealth Management. John has devotedly served on the board for six years as well as led the City Year Orlando Development Committee. He has played a critical role in forming a strong partnership with Wells Fargo Bank and City Year Orlando as well expanding City Year’s reach amongst the Orlando business community. John has led a team of Wells Fargo Bank professionals who have invested in the students and City Year AmeriCorps members serving on the Wells Fargo team at Judson B. Walker Middle School. We are glad to have John serving in a new leadership role in the 2018-19 school year and look forward to great year ahead.

With the new changes happening within City Year Orlando board, we say farewell to our founding board chair who has selflessly served in a leadership role since 2012 and opened so many doors for City Year Orlando during this time. John Sprouls, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer of Universal Parks & Resorts, has been instrumental in bringing City Year to Orlando and creating opportunities for Orlando students and young adults that they might not otherwise have. With his help, Universal Orlando Parks and Resorts has invested over $1M in City Year Orlando since its founding in 2012. John and his team of staff have been committed to supporting the student and AmeriCorps members at the Universal Orlando Teams at Memorial Middle School and Catalina Elementary.

Throughout his time on the board, John has supported the mission of City Year and has served as a guiding hand in our growth and success. John is passing the torch as Board Chair to Craig Schneider who will begin leading the board in July 2018. Though he’ll be leaving, his impact on City Year Orlando will not be forgotten and for that we thank you, John.
