School House Rock
EVENT POSTPONED! Join us at School House Rock on March 12th to celebrate a year of student success and community impact!
In light of recent increases in health concerns in New Orleans due to the COVID-19 virus and restrictions that many local organizations are placing on large gatherings and events, we have decided to postpone our School House Rock gala to the fall to avoid contributing to any potential spread of COVID-19. The safety of our staff, our AmeriCorps members, our partners and our community is a top priority for us, and we hope you understand this decision.

City Year New Orleans invites you to join us for our biggest celebration of the year, our annual School House Rock gala. School House Rock unites business and community leaders, citizen supporters, and service champions for an evening that raises thousands of dollars to support and honor the work of AmeriCorps members who are making a difference in their communities.
This year’s event is chaired by Caryn Rodgers-Battiste and Todd Battiste. The evening’s festivities will also honor Cheryl Landrieu for her unwavering dedication to the children of New Orleans and for her long-term championship of City Year AmeriCorps members.
Year after year, for over 12 years, our highly trained AmeriCorps members serve in six of our City’s schools where they mentor and tutor students who are falling behind. What’s more, after a year of service with City Year one quarter of our graduating corps become teachers in the City. All funds raised at School House Rock will directly fund the tutoring, social-emotional coaching, and after school programming provided to 4,000 students in our community—every day, early mornings until late evenings, the entire school year.
