Civic Engagement opportunities at City Year

Returning to City Year to serve on a Civic Engagement team is a great way to continue your personal and professional journey.

What do Civic Engagement teams do?

Civic Engagement (CE) teams are made up of AmeriCorps members who plan, prepare and execute large-scale transformational service events throughout the year. These events may engage corporate, community and student volunteers benefiting the service partner. Service partners often include but are not limited to existing City Year partner schools.

Events with Civic Engagement teams

All CE AmeriCorps members are supported by City Year staff members and are responsible for developing service projects, facilitating event preparations and leading the service team on event day.

While our eight sites with CE roles have different team structures, each team leads fellow corps members and volunteers to create transformational service and engages with community partners to develop service events.

Are you eligible to apply?

City Year Greater Boston is piloting Civic Engagement roles for 17-25 year-olds with or without previous AmeriCorps experience.

For all other sites with Civic Engagement teams, you must have served at least one half AmeriCorps term with an AmeriCorps program by June. Alums of previous years are eligible to apply.

You must enjoy physical service and volunteer management.
