Corporate and Foundation Partnerships Manager

This is my first year at City Year! Ready to rally.

The best part of my job is . . .

I spent several years (decades) working in the corporate advertising world. When I made the switch to nonprofit it was amazing the self-gratification I wake up with every morning. Having a purpose larger than myself is by far the best part of my job. I am very excited to be back in the USA where I can use this new-found purpose towards revitalizing Detroit- one of the U.S.’s best-kept secrets!

My favorite subject in school

Anything that involved art: art history, math for art, the chemistry of color. The theme of “art” always made every other subject easier to understand.

My favorite book

The Wisdom of Whores by Elizabeth Pisani was one of the most influential books I have ever read, a hardcore look at the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa and how funding is allocated.

Something I would like to learn this year

I want to learn more about Detroit! I grew up on the other side of the state in Kalamazoo, Michigan, then went to college in Chicago and have most recently spent (nearly) 10 years living in the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland (Southern Africa). I am new to Detroit but am captivated by its unique charm!

In my free time . . .

I love to travel, as much and as often as possible. I have 38 countries under my belt (so far) and a long list of other places to see!

House Hunters episode

Filming with House Hunters International!

I am inspired by . . .

Everyday people who strive to make a difference– no matter how small. All change starts with a single gesture, idea or spark that is put into action. Those that can create a space for change to happen from this small, seemingly insignificant process are what drives me to create change in my everyday life.

I never leave the house without . . .

My daughter and husband. We are “g3” and stick together. Life is just more interesting with these two!
