The Capital of Southern Hospitality

Columbia is an unassuming city, full of southern charm. It was named after Christopher
Columbus and is the second planned city in the United States. You might also hear Columbia
referred to as, “famously hot,” due to its very warm, sometimes humid temperatures and
world-class attractions.

Take a getaway without every having to leave the city. Walk on the wild side at the Riverbanks
Zoo and Garden or walk through the Three Rivers Greenway, nine and half miles of beautiful
pathways that take you along the riverfront. Visit the South Carolina State House to learn more
about the city’s history or enjoy authentic barbeque at one the many restaurants around town.
Summer is a scorcher here in Columbia, so find some shelter from the sun by exploring one of
the many fine museums that sets Columbia apart from the rest of the South.
