The University of New Hampshire’s Carsey School of Public Policy offers City Year AmeriCorps members, alums and staff

$3,500-$7,000 scholarships

Up to five admitted City Year applicants per year will be eligible to receive a scholarship for qualifying master’s degree programs according to the designations below:

  • At least two years served in as a City Year AmeriCorps member: $7,000 ($1,750/semester for first four semesters)
  • At least three years on staff: $7,000 ($1,750/semester for first four semesters)
  • One year served as a City Year AmeriCorps member and at least two years on staff: $7,000 ($1,750/semester for first four semesters)
  • One year served as a City Year AmeriCorps member: $3,500 ($875/semester for first four semesters)
  • At least two years on staff: $3,500 ($875/semester for first four semesters)

Scholarships will be provided in lieu of a Segal Education Award match.

All City Year graduates from the Carsey School’s master’s degree programs will be identified as City Year National Service Scholars.

Scholarships are awarded to City Year AmeriCorps members and alums who complete at least one term of service and City Year staff employed for at least two years.

City Year alums, staff, and currently serving City Year AmeriCorps members can apply to the master’s program for a fall or spring semester start, after their City Year commitment has concluded, to ensure there is no conflict with the City Year site graduation date.

To identify your City Year affiliation

Please self-identify your City Year affiliation on your résumé and/or essay.

To access the application fee waiver and apply for the scholarship

A service verification letter must be requested by emailing alumni@cityyear.org with “Carsey School at UNH: City Year Verification Letter Request” in the subject line. Within the email, include the site where you served and your AmeriCorps graduation month and year. Then request that the letter be sent electronically by City Year to Sanjeev Sharma, Carsey School Admissions Specialist, at sanjeev.sharma@unh.edu to have your application fee waived and be considered for one of the scholarships described above.
