Preparing for registration day: what you need to know

Registration day is a mandatory, in-person event held at each City Year office during the week leading up to the first day of service. All 29 City Year sites have their own registration days.

Registration day

All City Year AmeriCorps members must complete the hiring process including presenting documentation at registration in order to start service on time and receive your stipend and benefits. Click the link below to access the hiring & registration guide that details the steps you'll need to take to get ready for registration. Below, please find all required documentation based on the eligibility category that applies to you.

If you do not have any one of the documents listed below available, please alert your Service Year Adviser and contact the government office that can replace it. Missing documentation will delay your eligibility to start on time or prohibit your ability to serve with City Year.

In order to register you need to bring the unexpired originals of the following three forms of documentation*:

  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • Social Security Card
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident Status
