Student Service Week 2019

City Year DC is pleased to announce Student Service Week 2019, our annual service-learning program for high school students across the DMV! Each year we offer students in grades 9-12 a unique opportunity to explore thought-provoking social issues while earning up to 28 community service hours during their spring break. Our program is designed and lead by AmeriCorps members who serve over 7,500 students in 21 schools across Washington, DC.

This year, our theme is Young, Dripped in Culture. Students will learn about various ways in which they can affect positive change in their communities by being educated in and staying true to the culture of DC. In the mornings, we will engage in lessons about different aspects of DC culture such as food, music, political issues, and opportunities for college in the DC area. In the afternoons, students will travel to external service sites where they will complete service projects with leading non-profit organizations across DC.
