Volunteers of all ages joined City Year Tulsa for Global Youth Service Day, a youth-led initiative designed to make an impact in the communities around the world. Presented by Williams, the event gave volunteers an opportunity to bring creative inspiration to the halls of Sequoyah Elementary School.
City Year Tulsa AmeriCorps members and volunteers spent the day beautifying the entrance, hallways and exterior of Sequoyah Elementary School, located in north Tulsa. Volunteers painted academic murals featuring multiplication and addition tables, academic testing words and the school creed in both Spanish and English. Established in 1927, Sequoyah Elementary School is attended by 600. Volunteers hope that the project will encourage students to take pride in their school and find inspiration in the artwork.
