City Year was founded 25 years ago! <Whoot whoot!> As we celebrate the last quarter century of work we have done, it is easy to see the impact young people have made during their year of service. However, the work is not yet done. As an organization, City Year has grown to 25 locations in some of the highest poverty areas of the country. This work continues due to the thousands of Alumni who have put on their boots and put in countless hours to make our world a better place. Now, we are able to continue to change the world as City Year is hosting its' 25th Anniversary Alumni Campaign enabling future corps members to serve and impact the lives of children and communities around the world.
I choose to donate to City Year because as an alumna of City Year San Jose/Silicon Valley and current teacher at a City Year partner school, I know first-hand the impact of the work City Year does to improve the attendance, culture, and performance of our students here in the Silicon Valley and across the country. Even as I teach, I always have corps members ready to help my students. I know that I can always trust my corps members in their boots and jackets. I donate because I want to ensure that even more students have access to the remarkable care and work that City Year does each day. I hope that all Alumni remember the ripples they caused and feel empowered to contribute to the 25th Anniversary Alumni Campaign so that future corps members have the opportunity to serve on the shoulders of giants.
