Over 130 volunteers joined together to transform the Leataata Floyd Elementary School. They braved the rain, hammered nails, shoveled mulch and did what ever it took to show the community how much they care.

Every 26 seconds a student gives up on school. City Year Sacramento provides the human capital needed to provide students with an additional caring adult to urge them along the path to success.

Nationally, City Year sites in Chicago, Milwaukee, Ohio, Sacramento and Washington, D.C. partnered with local communities to make a difference on October 25 and we are grateful for the commitment of volunteers to improving our community here in Sacramento.

This event would not have been possible without the support of News10 Sacramento. Their community relations team, headed by Mellisa Paul of Sac & Co, helped to make the day something very special.

You can relive the Make a Difference Day magic by checking out the pictures, watching the News10 coveragereading about our work and learning about what our AmeriCorps members do when they're not leading community service days.

We hope to see you at our next event!
