As a new school year begins, so does a new partnership – Kaiser Permanente has generously invested $300,000 in service to help grow City Year’s impact in Sacramento. Over the next three years, Kaiser Permanente will be serving as the Fern Bacon Middle School Team Sponsor and during the 2015-16 school year will support 11 corps members throughout their year of service.

“As we launch into our fourth year in Sacramento, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome Kaiser Permanente to the City Year family,” said Interim Executive Director, Sonali Nijhawan. “Their investment in our corps members will help support the students that we serve this year in the South Sacramento community.”

At the first school event of the year, Kaiser Permanente will join together with City Year to help welcome families and students at Fern Bacon’s Back-to-School night where they will provide healthful living tips and information on gaining access to health care.

“Kaiser Permanente's investment extends to the full community. We are excited to support the service of our AmeriCorps members, Fern Bacon Middle School and the community that surrounds it." said Trish Rodriguez, Senior VP and Area Manager Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento.

For the last two years, Kaiser Permanente has also sponsored City Year Sacramento’s annual Ripples of Hope Gala – an end of the year celebration of the AmeriCorps members’ year of service. At this year’s event, they were celebrated as a valued partner and recognized for their 3-year commitment to City Year.

It is with Kaiser Permanente’s continued support that City Year will be able to serve Sacramento students for years to come and keep them on track to graduate from high school, ready for college and career success.
