This October, The Corporation for National & Community Service celebrated its one millionth AmeriCorps member milestone. As one of the top 10 AmeriCorps member-producing cities this past year, there was no better place to host Pennsylvania's AmeriCorps Launch Day than Philadelphia's City Hall.

At City Hall, different PennSERVE and AmeriCorps organizations came together and celebrated a national network of  #1in1Million.  400 AmeriCorps Members also took their service pledge to kick-off their year. Afterwards, all the teams hosted several service projects throughout the city.

City Year Philadelphia is proud of our presence in the community which was evident as two City Year alumni, Akeem Lloyd and Farah Johnson and one current team leader, Geneva Sloan spoke to the crowd about #WhyIServe, each individual clearly passionate about national service.

It was great to have so many people gather together that believed in change, and the testimonies shared were evidence that service can change lives.
