Orlando Health Sponsors Corps Wellness

City Year Orlando is excited to announce a new partnership with Orlando Health in support of corps wellness. Each school year, we develop a cohort of young adults who commit a year of service to students across eight OCPS partner schools. They tutor and mentor students all day, every day – typically providing 1,700+ hours to the community during their service year.

With the additional wellness support provided by Orlando Health, City Year can continue to develop and support the corps in their year of service to students. Funding from Orlando Health includes support of health and wellness training for 80 AmeriCorps members including a wellness challenge, opportunities to learn directly from Orlando Health leadership, as well as first aid and CPR training for the incoming corps to better meet the health needs of thousands of Orlando students.

“At Orlando Health, we fully understand that in order to successfully serve others we must first take care of ourselves, so it is an honor to support City Year and the amazing work that AmeriCorps members do for our community,” said Antwan Williams, Administrator, Allied Health & Support Services at Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.  Williams also serves on the City Year Orlando site advisory board.

Orlando Health has cared for Central Florida for more than 100 years. Through this partnership, they extend their healthcare services beyond the walls of their hospitals, making a profound difference in the lives of the individuals and communities we both serve.
