Basic Training Academy: A Summer Crash Course on the Year to Come

The first day of school is here, but our AmeriCorps members have been already been in service for the past month completing their Basic Training Academy, also known as “a crash course on the year to come.” City Year’s summer training covers everything from how to build a team to how to live on a stipend and more. Equity in New Hampshire’s Education: City Year Attends the 2019 Holmes Center Problems of Practice Summer Summit

Don’t Call it a Comeback: A Service Leader’s Story

“Prior to City Year, I was of the mind that there would always be time to serve ‘later.’ Consumed by the goal of becoming a doctor, I rationalized my priorities away from fighting inequity or seeking justice because I assumed that my skill set at the time wouldn’t be much help. Going forward, I have no problem calling my previous notions, as my kids would say, trash.”

Graduation Recap: The Spirit of City Year

Every year at Graduation, when our AmeriCorps members mark the completion of their service year, Comcast NBCUniveral announces the winner of the Spirit of City Year Award, an honor that goes to a peer-nominated AmeriCorps member who exemplifies City Year values.
