Welcome to the City Year New York community!
We are excited you have joined City Year and will be serving the students of New York City. You have committed to support NYC youth and help them reach their full potential, and City Year New York is equally committed to helping you learn, grow, and succeed.
The information on this site, along with calls from City Year staff members, newsletters, and the Facebook group, will help you prepare for your time with City Year. Within each section you will find guidance, resources, and tools to answer common questions and ease your transition into serving.
While your time will largely focus on supporting your students as scholars and citizens, that will not be the totality of your experience. Through various events, service days, and leadership opportunities you will also have the chance to meet other education champions, social change agents, and civic leaders. Many are alumni of City Year, including Alumni Board Co-Chairs, Kyle Levine and Marlena Frantzides
Your first day of service is Monday, August 13, 2018.
Prior to your first official day, all members must attend one registration session at City Year’s office downtown to complete payroll forms, meet staff, and get the final information you will need. You can also ask any final questions you have, but we encourage you to prepare for service long before August.
Registration sessions are scheduled for:
- Friday, July 20th
- Friday, July 27th
- Monday, July 30th
- Friday, August 3rd
Attendance at one of these days is mandatory. Additional information about these sessions will be posted online and sent via email.
