CYNH Appoints Three New Board Members

MANCHESTER, NH — City Year New Hampshire is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to their Board of Advisors.

 

Joining the Board are Dr. Paul Beaudin, Michael Pedler, and Michael Skelton. “These three new board members bring a powerful combination of higher education leadership, business and workforce insight, and brand and marketing expertise,” said Executive Director, Pawn Nitichan. “Each is a passionate leader who cares deeply about our communities and the future of New Hampshire. We are excited to welcome their perspectives and leadership as we continue to support students and schools while developing the next generation of civic leaders across the state.”

 

Dr. Paul Beaudin currently serves as the President of Manchester Community College, an institution that serves over 4,000 students annually. The college provides a full complement of degrees and certificates in the liberal arts, science, technology, and the trades.

Dr. Beaudin spent the first 20 years of his career as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in K – 12 education in the South Bronx and Spanish Harlem. Much of his professional focus was on the transformation of math instruction in elementary and middle schools. He served as a consultant for both Sadlier Publishing’s Progress in Mathematics program and as an author for Macmillan/McGraw-Hill’s Treasures reading series. For over 15 years, he trained new teachers and administrators as an adjunct professor at Fordham and Seton Hall universities and Manhattan College. In 2006, he became a professor of education at Iona College before becoming Associate Dean. He then assumed the role of Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Suffolk County Community College in New York and, later, at Northern Essex Community College in Massachusetts, where he served as the college’s Provost.

Paul holds both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science in Education from Iona College, and an Advanced Diploma in School Leadership and a PhD in Language and Literacy Education from Fordham University.  Paul lives in Manchester, where nearly 60 years ago, he entered kindergarten at the Straw School before moving to New York State.

 

As a performance driven business strategist, integrated marketing communications professional and disciplined brand planner, Michael Pedler is a trusted leader with a successful track record of leading cross-functional teams supporting global brand initiatives across North America. He is the President of Mumford, Hart & Ashley and a Managing Member of the Hart Ashley Group,   His experience spans a broad spectrum of industries and he has had the good fortune to work on many blue-chip brands including, Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, Loblaw Companies Limited, Metro, Sobeys/Safeway, IBM, Ford, Mondelez, Cadbury, Kraft/Heinz, Subaru, TD, Bell, and Canadian Tire.

Michael is also an arts lover (and musician). His passion for the arts stems from a strong belief in their intrinsic value and role in developing, strengthening and connecting communities. In addition to his role as Brand Chair of the Arkansas Philharmonic Orchestra, his passion for community development led him to a number of board and service positions for North American based charitable organizations, including; Artbound, Stella’s Place, ComKids, and Mount Sinai, among others.

 

Michael Skelton currently serves as President and CEO of the Business and Industry Association (BIA) of New Hampshire, the state’s leading business advocate and statewide Chamber of Commerce. Previously, Michael served as President and CEO of the Greater Manchester Chamber, the state’s largest regional Chamber of Commerce. Michael also previously served as Media Spokesmen for Eversource, the state largest electric utility and as Vice President of Government Affairs for the Greater Manchester Chamber. In total, Michael has nearly 20 years of leadership experience in the Chamber of Commerce industry and brings a background in public relations, media relations, economic development, and government affairs to his roles.

Michael previously served as member of the Board of Trustees of Manchester’s historic Palace Theatre, Amoskeag Industries, and Stay Work Play NH. Governor Chris Sununu appointed Michael to serve as a Board member for the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, and he is currently in his second term. Michael also serves as a member of the US Chamber’s CCC100, a select advisory committee of one hundred leading Chamber of Commerce executives from across the country.
