Four undergraduate programs that offer City Year alumni scholarships

From a Gap Year to College

Though college graduates make up the majority of City Year AmeriCorps members, the corps is also made up of recent high school graduates—often times taking a gap year before going on to college. For many of these members, a year of service with City Year not only serves to look good on future college applications but it also fosters a deep personal growth.

“You will mature, gain valuable skills and meet some of the most compassionate teammates, all while devoting yourself to a cause greater than self. City Year is the motivation and focus you need after high school to find out which field you’re passionate about, whether you want to go to college or take an alternate path,” said Claire Dempsey, a City Year New York alumna.

Choosing to do a gap year with City Year is a big decision. It’s challenging, full-time work that requires you to lead with empathy and a social justice mindset every day. While we know that our AmeriCorps members choose City Year to be in service of others, you’ll be excited to learn that are some generous benefits! City Year has more than 15 University Partnerships nationwide that offer alumni tuition scholarships and application fee waivers.

Here are four programs with amazing opportunities for those pursuing an undergraduate degree:
