Meet Andrew Gupta
“I’m Andrew, a second-year corps member serving at Olney Elementary in Philadelphia. Originally from a small town 20 miles west of Philadelphia, I studied biochemistry at the University of Illinois. After college, I wanted to explore a potential career in education, and that led me to City Year Philly! After completing this year of service, I will be entering Temple University’s Teacher Residency Program to become a high school chemistry teacher. It has been a complicated but beautiful journey to get to this point!
I love City Year’s emphasis on equity, social-emotional learning and student-centered learning. My time at City Year has truly taught me to listen to students and to be focused on their holistic development. These are mindsets and frameworks I hope to carry with me as I become a teacher!”
