A Diverse and Energetic City

With many vibrant communities and a fast-growing population, Miami-Dade county is one of the country’s most diverse metropolitan areas and in many ways is the face of the new America, on the forefront of many cultural trends.  51% of its residents are foreign born – more than any other county in the nation.  These multicultural, multilingual individuals represent more than 150 countries and 60 different languages.  Numerous businesses and industries call Miami-Dade home.  As the only major metropolitan area to border two national parks (Biscayne and the Everglades), there are lots of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, and the world-renowned beaches and nightlife are not just for the tourists to enjoy. Try kayaking, windsurfing, or stand up paddle boarding in Biscayne Bay, check out the arts scene in the Design District or Wynwood, or take a stroll through little Havana and enjoy a café con leche while watching a game of dominoes.  Further south in the communities of Homestead and Redlands, the county boasts a large agricultural area where you can pick your own fresh fruits and vegetables year-round.  From free festivals and concerts to hundreds of parks and open spaces, there is something for everyone – and always something new to experience.
