1,000 Volunteers Come Out to Transform Belmont High School on MLK Day!

On Monday, CYLA held our 6th Annual MLK Day of Service to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Over 1,000 volunteers gathered on the campus of Belmont High School, a City Year partner school, to transform the 90 year old campus in a matter of hours!

Read to Succeed: Hollenbeck Middle School’s 25 Book Campaign

In an effort to motivate students to become life-long readers, Hollenbeck Middle School in Boyle Heights hosts a “25 Book Campaign” each year. The campaign asks students to read 25 books equaling a million and a half words in total throughout the school year.
