A recently published study by the Washington-based research firm Policy Studies Associates found that schools with teams of City Year AmeriCorps members were two to three times more likely to improve on state assessments in English and Math. Schools that partnered with City Year also gained the equivalent of approximately one month of additional learning in English and Math. 

This is the first national, third-party evaluation of City Year’s Whole School Whole Child, which trains and deploys teams of AmeriCorps members to low-performing, urban schools. The Whole School Whole Child
model is designed to help schools organize their student interventions and whole school initiatives to better meet the high scale and intensity of student need. The study validates that the comprehensive services offered to partner schools by City Year have a significant and measurable impact on student performance.
