Dear [friend or family],

I care about our community and I'm proud to support the important work of City Year Los Angeles. Starting Tuesday, Oct. 18th at 9am, they are one of 76 education-focused nonprofits participating in a public voting competition for the MyLA2050 Grants Challenge. With your help, they could win $100,000 to launch a unique STEM pilot program at Roosevelt, Mendez and Belmont high schools, some of the highest-need schools in LAUSD.

At the center of this transformative program is our AmeriCorps members’ unique relationships with their students. Applying a whole-child approach, the program will leverage City Year AmeriCorps member’s near-peer relationships with students to help them learn to write code, create video games, and pursue their technology interests – building real-world skills to meet the demands of a 21st Century world.
