Our Approach

Our Approach

At City Year, we believe education has the power to help every child reach his or her potential. However, in high-poverty communities there are external factors and obstacles students are faced with every day that can interfere with their ability to arrive to school ready to learn.

Our Impact

Measured Success

City Year Kansas City launched in August 2015 serving in two urban schools (Central Middle School of the Kansas City Public School District and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Charter School) with 16 AmeriCorps members. This year, the corps has grown to 50 AmeriCorps members, and positively impacts three additional KCPS campuses: Central Academy of Excellence, Northeast Middle School, and Northeast High School.

Our Corps

Highly Skilled Near-Peer mentors

This year, City Year Kansas City is deploying 50 idealistic AmeriCorps members into five urban Kansas City schools to make a positive impact in the lives of KC students.
