Josh Bekenstein is a Managing Director of Bain Capital LLC, a leading global private investment firm. Josh helped start Bain Capital in 1984 with a number of colleagues from Bain & Company, a management consulting firm. Since then, Bain Capital has grown to more than 900 people and has made private equity investments in more than 300 companies across a variety of industries. In addition, the firm has expanded into other asset classes and currently manages several pools of capital including private equity, non-investment grade debt, mezzanine capital, and public equity. The firm has approximately $75 billion in assets under management.
Josh Bekenstein serves as a board member of several corporations, including Bombardier Recreational Products, Bright Horizons Family Solutions, Burlington Coat Factory, Dollarama, Gymboree, Michaels Stores, Toys R Us, and Waters Corporation. He has also served on the board of many community and educational organizations. He chairs the boards of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and New Profit Inc. He servers on the boards for City Year, New Leaders for New Schools, Be The Change, and on the Yale Corporation Investment Committee. Josh holds a B.A. from Yale and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He lives in Wayland, Massachusetts and he and his wife, Anita, have five children.
