Volunteers are an integral part of our work: helping Boston students, schools, and communities succeed. Whether you’re looking to make a one-time or ongoing commitment, work with your hands or inspire a student, there’s a volunteer opportunity for you. Moccasin Mentoring Initiative (September – May)
City Year Jacksonville AmeriCorps members are a diverse group of young adults between the ages of 18-25 dedicating a year of their lives to service in Duval Public Schools as mentors, tutors and role models. The Moccasin Mentoring Initiative aims to give corps members a one-on-one relationship with a mentor by creating matches based on a corps member’s professional goals. Mentors gain a first-hand connection to City Year service and the rewarding experience of supporting a developing young leader.
18 Minute Networking (December 15, 2017)
Every year City Year Jacksonville hosts our 18 Minute Networking event, where corps members practice their networking skills and develop important connections for their post-City Year plans. Through this event, the corps can explore different career and educational paths while cultivating essential professional skills. This tremendous one-day opportunity is only possible through the generosity of our event facilitators, who are volunteers like you: City Year alumni, colleagues of alumni, staff and accomplished members of the Jacksonville community.
MLK Day Service Event (January 15th, 2018)
Our MLK Day Service Event is an opportunity for us to support Jacksonville youth and communities. Volunteers transform a Jacksonville school by painting murals, refreshing landscaping, and creating student learning tools.
