2016 has flown by! As we get ready to close out this year, take a look back at some of our favorite moments and memories.
January 18 - MLK Day: Over 300 people came together for a day of community service at Highlands Middle School in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. See storify here.
January 19-22 - Mid Year Summit: A week of learning, reflecting, and planning our Leadership After City Year!
March 4 - School House Soiree: A celebration of the power of #makebetterhappen. See all the photos here
March 10 - Volunteer Florida Visit: Hosting Volunteer Florida at the Leadership Academies at Eugene J. Butler Middle School for a morning. Check out the Times Union Article on their visit.
March 23 - #WithLoveJax Spring Break: Spending Spring Break spreading a little extra positivity around Jacksonville (Check out the hashtag & @withlove_world for more inspiration)
May 6 - Unity Rally in Hemming Park: Demonstrating spirit, discipline, purpose and pride.
June 10 - Graduation: Celebrating the end of the service year for the 100 AmeriCorps members who gave a year to #makebetterhappen.
July 11-15 - Summer Academy & Best of City Year: Staff and Team Leaders spent a week in Boston to learn and build community. The week’s highlight was definitely winning our second Best of City Year Award!
August 15 - First Day of the School Year: This year we welcomed 120 AmeriCorps members to serve at 12 Duval County Public Schools. On the first day of the school year, staff traveled to all 12 schools to deliver a little extra cheer and wish everyone good luck! Meet the team and this year's goals on the blog here.
September 14 - Opening Day: Friends, families, partners and supporters joined us to celebrate City Year Jacksonville's birthday and kick off the new school year and the induction of a new corps.
November 2 - Generation Wow: Bringing together girls from City Year led clubs at four high school partners to Generation Wow event.
November 8 - Florida Blue and Jacksonville Jaguars Take Over: Florida Blue, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Florida Dairy Council, Subway and City Year partnered to bring a day of fun health programming to the students at Susie Tolbert Elementary School.
Nov 21 - THE PLAYERS Giving Back Month: THE PLAYERS put on an exciting golf clinic with Jim Furyk and Superintendent Nikolai Vitti at North Shore Elementary School.
We are looking forward to another exciting year in 2017!
