City Year DC is pleased to announce Student Service Week 2018, our annual service-learning program for high school students across the DMV! Each year, Student Service Week offers students in grades 9-12 a unique opportunity to explore thought-provoking social issues while earning up to 40 community service hours during their spring break. Our program is designed and lead by AmeriCorps members who serve over 7,500 students in 18 schools across Washington, DC.
This year, our theme is Dreamers of Change: Be the change you dream about. Students will learn about various ways in which they can affect positive change in their communities as young leaders. In the mornings, we will explore topics including identity and representation in the media, leadership development, civic engagement, community building, and advocacy and expression through music and visual arts. In the afternoons, students will travel to external service sites where they will complete service projects with leading non-profit organizations across DC. Limited spots are available!
