City Year Denver shares new Executive Director, John Albright

Denver, CO – January 20, 2022

City Year Denver is excited to announce John Albright as the organization’s New Senior Vice President and Executive Director.

“We are pleased to welcome John as the executive director of City Year Denver,” said Brian Sandy, President at IMA Select LLC and board chair of City Year Denver. “John brings to the role a longstanding commitment to education and youth development efforts in Denver, empowering others to become advocates for excellent schools.”

With over 20 years of experience in education, John comes to City Year Denver from Denver Public Schools (DPS) where he currently serves as Student Engagement Director, driving strategic policy work to improve student voice and leadership, dropout prevention and recovery, college and career readiness and more. He believes deeply in the power of young people and thoughtfully advocates on their behalf, frequently engaging with both civic and corporate leadership to support the DPS mission of providing all students with the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. He is no stranger to City Year, having served as the organization’s district liaison since 2017.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead City Year Denver —I am joining a talented team of professionals dedicated to advancing equitable outcomes for the youth in my community,” said Albright. “City Year is poised to expand our work in Denver, and I look forward to partnering with our community and school district, so together we can support more students to acquire critical skills and engage more deeply with their learning.”

John will officially join the City Year Family on February 7th, 2022.
