Tasha Booker, Executive Director, City Year Columbus
Tasha (Booker) Fowler serves as the Executive Director for City Year Columbus and Vice President for City Year Inc. where she develops and leads City Year Columbus’ annual and long-term strategies and priorities for school and community impact, operations and finance. City Year partners with public schools to help students graduate from high school ready for college, career and a productive life. Tasha is credited with securing the first-ever school district contract in the organization’s 25-year history. This partnership with Columbus City Schools helped to increase private revenue by 78% while expanding school partnerships by 43%.
Tasha has nearly two decades of nonprofit and K-12 education experience. Prior to leading City Year Columbus, she served as the Director of Development and Public Relations for I Know I Can, a college access organization and has held leadership roles for United Way of Central Ohio, The Boy Scouts of America and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Tasha serves as a member of the Board of Directors for First Night Columbus, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., and was a founding member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Central Ohio Chapter. She was recognized in Business First’s 2014 class of Forty under 40, the Class of 2017 Smart Business Executive Directors of the Year and is a 2017 Young American Leadership Program (YALP) fellow and Pahara Institute NextGen Fellow. Tasha was recognized by WELD Ohio as a 2018 Women WELDing the Way honoree, a 2018 Progressive Woman by Smart Women Columbus and received an Honorary Doctorate for Community Leadership from Franklin University.
Tasha holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Franklin University and Master of Education and teaching licensure from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. She is married to Troy and is the proud mother of two sons, Logan and TJ, and a 5lb poodle named Skittles.
