John P. Thomas hosted "Walk to School Day" in celebration of National Walk to School Day observed on the first Wednesday in October. The goal for this day is to raise awareness and support for the health, community and environmental benefits of regularly walking or biking to school. Walking is an excellent form of exercise, and John P Thomas wants our students to know that. Usually, it is a unique opportunity to enjoy the weather, but because it was raining this year, we did the event in the gym. The students, teachers, staff and even some parents came to the gym and walked around 2-3 times. It was a joyous event! The third-grade students created posters! On the signs, it showed love and motivation for walking and even ways you could walk to school. It was tons of fun, and I am glad I got to experience this day with my students. I think every school should participate in celebrating National Walk to School Day.
