Kennedy

Impact Team:

Thea DeRosa Cerra, Managing Director of Impact
What about City Year inspires you : City Year inspires me because it is a powerful experience to watch young adults commit 11 months of their lives to try and make a difference in the life of a child.  It is exciting to see children reach their potential and feel more confident. While at the same time, witnessing the corps member grow and learn important life lessons.

Kristen McDonough, Impact Director
What about City Year inspires you:  The strong mission and values of the organization.

Emily Perkins, Senior Impact Manager
What about City Year inspires you: City Year is constantly adapting itself to best fit the needs of the communities we serve to powerfully combat education inequity.

Allie Cozzone, Impact Manager
What about City Year inspires you: Idealism works!

Brent Hildebrandt, Impact Manager
What about City Year inspires you: I am inspired daily by the idealism of the corps members, the impact the corps members have in the communities we serve, and the moment when a student has fun learning.

Lowell M. King, Impact Manager
What about City Year inspires you: I am inspired by the thought of “idealism,” that through one year of service, young people can make a difference in the lives of other young people and the communities in which they will serve. I am inspired by the team that I serve on because they bring such great energy and have made a place for me to be my true self. I am inspired by the work we will do in the schools this year because education and work with children are two of my greatest passions in life, and I am truly blessed to find a place where I can combine the two. That is why I am inspired by City Year!

Dahlia Manning, Impact Manager
What about City Year inspires you: Our mission. Every day we wake up and make a decision to make a difference in our community.

Syd Merz, Learning, Development and Evaluation Manager
What about City Year inspires you: I am inspired by City Year's Core Value Ubuntu--that my humanity is connect to yours. If we want to solve or challenge any issue, small or large, we must realize that our actions are connected and being voiceless/nonactive only perpetuates the issue. Also, I am inspired by the determination, passion, and willingness of our AmeriCorps Members, who dedicate a year of their lives to provide tutoring services in schools that need it the most. The connections the AmeriCorps Members make with the students and capacity they serve in the schools brings a model which supports the students to reach their highest potential. I am honored to work with such amazing young talent as well as alongside a staff that truly believes we can make a difference in the national drop-out crisis.
