The New Faces of City Year Cleveland

City Year Cleveland is also excited to announce that Gareth Vaughan, Patti Choby and Kate Brown have joined the City Year Board of Directors. Gareth Vaughan will lead as the 3rd board Chairman of City Year Cleveland. All three of our newest board members embody the spirit of City Year and bring talent, expertise and energy to the table. We are fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to strengthen the Cleveland community.

AmeriCorps Opening Day and Regional Swearing-In Ceremony

During the last 21 years, almost one million men and women have joined AmeriCorps to make our country stronger. On October 16, 2015, the 2015 -16 class of AmeriCorps members nationwide joined together for Opening Day, an opportunity to welcome new AmeriCorps members in a national swearing-in pledge ceremony.

City Year Opening Day

Opening Day ceremonies are the literal and symbolic beginning to a new year of helping students to change their educational outcomes and their futures as a whole. City Year Cleveland launched 60 AmeriCorps members into service in seven Cleveland Metropolitan School District schools this year. City Year Cleveland welcomed community partners on October 9, 2015 to their Opening Day Ceremony.

City Year Cleveland is proud to have 60 AmeriCorps members in seven Cleveland Metropolitan School District schools during the 2015-2016 school year. One of our inspiring AmeriCorps members is Team Leader, Amelia Lord, who proudly serves on the City Year Cleveland team at East Technical High School this year.

City Year Cleveland Works to Raise Literacy Awareness with AT&T Sponsored Book Club

On September 8th, 2015, City Year Cleveland celebrated International Literacy Day by showcasing our favorite childhood and young adult books! International Literacy Day gives children and communities a chance to rediscover the joys of reading while raising awareness for those without access to education. One of the main focuses of City Year's Whole School, Whole Child model is on student literacy.
