Story by Ian Rupp, AmeriCorps member serving at the Chalmers School of Excellence.

The City Year's AmeriCorps members hosted a successful event for the teachers and staff at Chalmers School of Excellence. Teachers and staff enjoyed a breakfast of coffee and doughnuts with the City Year team serving the school.

The event was largely made possible by in-kind donations by The Hope Cafe, a local coffee shop in North Lawndale that looks to make a positive impact in their community.

A symbol of love for education, The Hope Cafe partners with Chicago Hope Academy. Chicago Hope Academy provides private, faith-based education to the inner-city youth of Chicago. All proceeds from Hope Cafe go towards funding the academy.

The City Year team serving at Chalmers would like to thank and congratulate Chalmers' teachers and staff  for the tremendous work they put into shaping the futures of their students. Few people possess the tenacity, kindness, and dedication that they exhibit, and for that the team is in awe of their contributions.
