Martin Luther King Service Day
Join City Year Greater Boston to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day on, not a day off. Our MLK Day event will bring together community members in service and learning to support students in Boston and Everett. Please note that all activities will now be held virtually.
See below for our schedule of events!
10:00 am – 11:30 am: Virtual Service Project Shift 1
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Education Equity Panel
3:30pm – 5:00 pm: Virtual Service Project Shift 2
Virtual projects will include creating resources for students at the Madeline English School, Fenway High School and Boston Green Academy that will later be packed into Student Success Kits. These resources include canvas pencil pouches, bookmarks, and keychains. Thank you to T-Mobile for sponsoring this!
You are welcome to join us for some or all of the day!
Curious how virtual events work? See below.
Volunteers will receive all necessary materials in the mail before the event date, along with a return label to ship back to City Year. On event day, the projects will be lead through Zoom and each breakout space will have a City Year Project Coordinator who will explain how to complete each step of the project.
Once your materials are shipped via the USPS, you will receive a notification with tracking information for your reference from email@example.com. Please add this email address to your contacts so that it doesn’t get sorted into a junk folder.
Though we do everything we can to ensure that your package will arrive with time to spare, packages are sometimes delayed or lost for reasons outside of our control. We are unable to overnight new packages, but the kits include instructions and links to online tutorials for completing the activities – this will allow you to complete the projects even if the kit arrives after the Zoom event. We thank you in advance for your patience in these instances.
