This year's Red Jacket Weekend united 750 members of our community in a celebration of service and the power to make a difference in the lives of others.
On Friday, September 18, we hosted an evening reception at Fenway Park. More than 200 City Year alumni and leaders joined us, as they reunited with old friends, made new connections, and enjoyed the view atop the Green Monster.
On Saturday, September 19, we gathered at Madison Park High School. There, our 265 City Year Boston AmeriCorps members kicked off their year in front of hundreds of champions, family members, and community partners. Sponsored by Comcast NBCUniversal, the Opening Day ceremony featured Dr. Tommy Chang, Superintendent of Boston Public Schools, leading the corps in the City Year pledge. Following the ceremony, AmeriCorps members and guests set out for a powerful day of service, beautifying the spaces in and around the school and creating back-to-school kits for students.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to seeing you again! For information about next year's Red Jacket Weekend in 2016, visit our event page.
